New Indie Label, HISTORY MUSIC, Sign Vancouver’s Black Halos Vancouver, BC, Canada February 5th 2007.

History Music announces today the signing of Vancouver’s notorious monochrome punks, The Black Halos..

The Black Halos will be History Music’s 1st signing to the brand new independent label based out of Vancouver, Canada..

Recording of the 1st album with History Music will start immediately with a July release planned.
Famed Producer Jack Endino (Nirvana, Soundgarden) has confirmed he will once again produce the 4th full length for The Black Halos..

This is the third label for the boys in black. Formed by their Manager Danny Cameo and Black Halos' drummer Rob Zgaljic, History Music could just be the home The Black Halos have always wanted..

“I approached Rob early last summer about us putting something together to release the next Halos album with both of us handling Management duties” says Cameo. “With my background in Corporate Business and his in the Music Industry on and off the stage, it just seemed to make sense.” “The timing was right for myself and the band.” says Zgaljic. “This was always something I wanted to pursue and Danny and I are making it happen”. “Rob and I worked out a great distribution deal with Sonic Unyon and everything is in place to make this the most successful Black Halos record so far.”.

History Music will eventually be signing other bands once the next Black Halos album is recorded. “We know we have to take it one project at a time and not bite off more than we can chew, we want to do this right in every manner” says Cameo. The label will also be managing bands soon as well. “Thanks to fantastic help from some great people within the industry setting this up, there’s a good deal of interest already.” exclaims Cameo..

The Black Halos have also confirmed they will once again be performing at Canadian Music Week in Toronto this March. “We are going to do a few shows on the way out to Toronto and we will be playing some of the new songs. I am really proud of the material we have to record, I think it’s the best music we have written as a band” says Zgaljic..

The Black Halos have released 3 full length albums between the Sub Pop and Century Media labels. Their music has been featured on anything from hit US TV shows to video games. Over the last 8 years, the band has performed with such acts as Social Distortion, Sum 41 and the Offspring to Danzig..

The Black Halos have played in 14 countries this past year alone, and return to Europe once again in the spring 2007..

History Music Recordings is an Independent Record Label and Artist Management Company..

During this years SXSW Music Festival something awesome happened to meI saw The Black Halos and had a good time a really good time. All to often, going to live shows has meant seeing mediocre bands attempting to imitate the irreproducible and whining out over-used, literary metaphors. You probably know exactly what I am talking about-shows with 50 people sullenly looking toward the stage, slightly bopping up and down, and desperately trying to maintain a precise level of aloofness. If you are as tired of that as I am, than this is the band for you. Almost an endangered species, they are a genuine rock band under whose influence you will probably do things you shouldnt. Songs on the album like Darkest Corners, Burning Trash, and Three Sheets to the Wind etc. are like a Raise Hell virus that once inside of you takes over completely. The following is from an interview conducted in early July 2005

1) Your shows are pretty intense-what is the craziest thing that happened to y'all on tour this year?
AB- Our intensity level live is sometimes intimidating so one night we decided we would try to interact with the crowd more.......Hopeless finally agreed so the very next night in FLA he took his antics into the crowd for some fun and ends up having some jealous boyfriend pull a knife on him...... Poor Billy! Earlier that show I had jumped off sidestage onto a booth table which collapsed and nearly crushed the unsuspecting patrons seated at it. We love the interaction but sometimes people are threatened by it instead of indulging.
DM- probably smashing Billy in the head with my bass. i just got that bastard fixed
JM- This year (2005) saw us playing quite a few shows -- and while it may not be the most "intense" thing - but the strangest thing was doing aboout 6 or 7 shows WITHOUT Billy! Denyss and Adam sang and that was definitely a first for us.
RZ- I think actually finishing up the last 2 weeks of our tour without Billy. We had to leave him in Seattle to get treated for his back. Adam and Denyss took over vocal duties with myself doing back-ups. How many bands can say they've continued on a tour without their front man....
2) The Black Halos have been around for a while now- what keeps you going strong?
AB- For me I try to write and play music that I want to hear more of and Black Halos are an on honest extension of that. I also couldn't still be doing this with a lesser bunch of guys. All you leave the earth with is memories its best to make the best ones you can with the best people you know.
DM- booze. lots of booze.
JM- I think we all enjoy playing - traveling and having a good time and making the best of anything that gets thrown our way while on the road. And it's exciting having a record out of songs that you spent time writing. And I haven't really got anything else to fall back on so...
RZ- I think the love of the music we create and getting out there and touring.... meeting tons of people and having a blast. This is the best day job ever!!
3) What are your biggest musical influences?
AB- I prefer the honest storyteller type of survivors. Those who share rather than complain. Jim Carroll, Stiv Bators, etc. Its what attracts me to Billy's vocals as well. I cant remember lyrics to save my life so every time i hear em they're all new to me. It's like an endless bag of stories. Live, I enjoy a good rocking moody band... deadly like a hard attack dealt with a smirk.
DM- depends on the moment. but as a rule, always Sammi Yaffa(Hanoi Rocks).
JM- Everyone's influences probably vary and are all over the map but for me growing up and depending on what year it was it could run from a lot of Canadian punk, Jesus and Mary Chain, The Cure to bands like The Ramones, Rolling Stones and The Replacements. We're all fans of rock'n'roll basically.
RZ- I love everything from Bowie to Slayer. Every time I hear something that's inspiring it has an influence on me.
4) What are your biggest non-musical influences?
AB- The gypsy in me loves traveling. I love motorbikes and anything Sharon Tate. Visually and intellectually, Rodchenko, Jung and Guinness.
DM- the comedy stylings of Brian Griffin.
JM- Probably film and other sort of "entertainment" outlets. I'm a fan of entertainers in general - actors, musicians, artists. It can all be very inspiring in some way or other.
RZ- My brother and our fans.... theyre the ones why I'm still doing this.
5) Lots of bands are pretty superstitious. How 'bout y'all? Any strange rituals for good luck?
AB- I'm sure I have many. Vanilla scented candles and Sade pre-set and other various less obvious OCD rituals. Last tour Denyss and I were having really horrid nightmares in the RV. While in New Orleans I was told to line my bunk in aluminum foil and believe it or not the dreams went away. As for Denyss, I think he just found sweeter places to sleep...
DM- booze. lots and lots of booze
JM- I'm not superstitious. I'll break a mirror, walk under a ladder. I owned a black cat who I can assure you walked in front of me plenty of times. No worries.
RZ- Just make sure we're not too drunk before we hit the stage.
6) Besides the 5 of y'all, who else is usually crammed in that Winnebago?
AB- I'm still married. No Comment....;) Next?
DM- Skullface
JM-
Well the last time you saw us we were blessed to have a big old RV to travel in but that was a luxury we rarely afford. It's mostly a 15 passenger van and trailer. And besides the 5 of us we usually have a driver/roadie. Last time we had a merch girl and we might again but who knows....
RZ- Many stuffed animals.
7) When you're not making music what are you up to?
AB- I rarely ever watch television and I've been rebuilding a 1981 650cc I just got. I read online endlessly and after having lived everywhere from Australia to SF, I try to stay in touch with as many friends as I can online. My guitar is basically on my lap the entire time.
DM- I watch a lot of cartoons and play a lot of video games. did I mention booze?
JM- Working the occasional shift at my workplace, getting drunk, seeing bands, and just generally hanging out.
RZ- I work at a record label and I also manage a band from Vancouver called By A Thread.
8) What are you most likely to have in your CD Player/MP3 Player/Record Player right now?
AB- Hybrid to zone out, Sade to relax, Devil Dogs to smile, Love and Rockets, Public Enemy, Etc 4213 songs ya know. Its a 20 gigger. I listen to a lot of everything but nothing very current. Those would be Raveonettes, Singapore Sling, Exploding Hearts, Manic Street Preachers.
DM- right now Im listening to a lot of Converge and a local band called The RedscareDM
JM- Right at this moment my CD player has Nikki Sudden - "The Jewel Thief", Kiss - "Rock and Roll Over", The Urgencies - "Desolation Chic". The record player had a George Harrison record on it but now there's nothing.
RZ- The Doves, David Bowie, My Bloody Valentine
9) What is your favorite song on the new album & why?
AB- MirrorMan was the first song I wrote with Billy for Halos. It was to be a sequel to a song I had written for LustKillers "Do I Love You" but I knew Hopeless could really give it some justice. I think it reveals that Halos really do write and play what we are feeling instead of what the fans or critics expect. I also love that I made Jay take both solos in the song cuz he's got this total 70's classic rock feel lending to the creepy Alice Cooper vibe of the tune.
DM- Exit Stagefright. it's a pop masterpiece without being fluff.
JM- It's hard to pick faves honestly because there's something cool I like about all the tunes. I mean, if I didn't I wouldn't really want it on the record....
RZ- I actually don't have a favorite at the moment. Listening to the record..I love all the songs equally..I usually start to have a favorite when we play the songs live.
10) After a year of touring, the release of a new album, and one pretty serious injury-whats next for The Black Halos???
AB- A video and endless touring I am sure. I really want to take Halos through Europe as well as Japan. This Cd is being called the punk rock "appetite for destruction" there's something on it that any kind of fan can relate to. Punk, Metal, Goth etc....its really just rock n roll. There's a lot of bands out there now sporting the black clothes and hair but accept no substitutes, Halos have always been this way and "alive without control" demonstrates that once again. Now the audience has finally caught up and It's so cool everyone else is loving it as much as we do. Next tour Begins in August, We just cant wait to see You Soon!
DM- booze. lots and lots of booze.
JM- Once Billy is up and running we're going to tour a bunch more, make a video, and have ourselves some good times.
RZ- More touring, probably more injuries, a new video and a ton of new fans
